The Kurdistan Teachers’ Association announced that systematic pressures from the Ministry of Education and security institutions against teachers in the province have entered a new phase. In recent days, 7 dedicated and active unionist teachers in the cities of Divandarreh and Saqqez have faced dismissal, suspension from service, and forced retirement.
In Divandarreh, four members of the Teachers’ Association were sacked due to their union activities and efforts to advocate for the rights of colleagues and students: • Parviz Ahsani • Kaveh Mohammadzadeh • Hiva Qureishi • Omid Shahmohammadi
In Saqqez, three prominent teachers faced severe disciplinary measures: • Shahram Karimi: 6 months suspension from service • Loqmanollah Moradi: 1 year suspension from service • Soleiman Abdi: Forced retirement with a two-grade demotion
The Teachers’ Association emphasized that in recent days, seven other teachers in Sanandaj have also faced similar rulings. This comes despite a recent claim by Seyed Fuad Hosseini, the provincial Director General of Education, who stated in an interview that “no teacher has been sacked.”
These recent crackdowns highlight the ongoing policies of elimination and pressure by governmental and security institutions against civil activists, while the educational and union demands of teachers remain unaddressed.
