An earthquake in Colombia’s Choco Department has left at least one person dead and 10 others injured, according to local media reports citing disaster authorities. Three more individuals are currently unaccounted for.
The regional office of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management said the tremor caused severe damage to infrastructure in Quibdo, the departmental capital.
Videos shared on social media show multiple residential buildings and other structures collapsed in the city. Local officials are continuing to evaluate building safety and verify the full extent of the disaster’s impact across the region.
