Argentina's request to Interpol for the arrest of Ahmad Vahidi, the Minister of the Government of the Islamic Republic, has been made.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina has announced that it has requested Interpol to arrest Ahmad Vahidi, the Minister of the Government of the Islamic Republic, for his involvement in the bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires 30 years ago, which resulted in the death of 85 people.
In a statement, the ministry stated that Ahmad Vahidi is part of an Iranian delegation currently visiting Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and Interpol has issued a red notice for his arrest at the request of Argentina.
Argentina has also requested the governments of Pakistan and Sri Lanka to arrest Vahidi.
The statement by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Argentina is pursuing the international arrest of the officials responsible for the 1994 AMIA attack, which resulted in the death of 85 people.
The joint statement by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Security reads: "One of them is Ahmad Vahidi, whom the Argentine judiciary is seeking as one of the officials responsible for the AMIA attack."
In recent weeks, an Argentine court held Iran responsible for the 1994 attack on the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires and the bombing of the Israeli embassy two years earlier, which claimed 29 lives.
Argentine prosecutors accused the leaders of the Islamic Republic of orchestrating the attack. The court also implicated Hezbollah in the AMIA bombing, calling it a crime against humanity.
