Calling for a general strike in response to the increased execution rate of Kurds by the Iranian regime.
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights
In response to the execution of several Kurds by the Iranian regime, human rights organizations have collectively issued a call for a general strike.
Text of the statement:
The execution rate in Kurdistan has reached an alarming level, with the repressive machinery of the Islamic Republic of Iran ruthlessly and shamelessly sacrificing the youth of the country. It appears that the Iranian government is utilizing the death penalty as a hollow force to punish the Kurdish people. In its latest egregious act, the Iranian government unfortunately executed four young Kurdish political prisoners this morning. Additionally, the death sentences of six other Kurdish political and religious prisoners have been approved by the Iranian Supreme Court.
We, a coalition of human rights activists and organizations, call on all segments of Kurdish society to participate in a general strike this Tuesday to protest against these inhumane practices of the Iranian government that violate the principles of human rights.
The purpose of this strike is not only to express opposition to the death penalty but also to attract national and international attention to the dire human rights situation in Kurdistan and advocate for an end to the death penalty.
We urge all Kurdish political parties, civil society organizations, human rights centers, and individuals of conscience worldwide to support these strikes, demands, and activists. Help us convey the legitimate struggle of the Kurdish people for justice and the protection of human rights to relevant centers and the global community.
