The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, has abruptly canceled a scheduled meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, at the Davos summit. This decision follows a heinous crime committed by the Iranian regime, involving the killing of civilian Kurds.
On December 15-16, 2024, at 11:30 pm, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards launched a missile attack on Erbil, as reported by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Security Council. This reprehensible assault resulted in the tragic loss of four innocent lives, with six others sustaining injuries due to the ballistic missile strike on various civilian areas in Erbil.
In light of this grave incident, the Iraqi Foreign Minister deemed it necessary to cancel the meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Davos. The cancellation serves as a poignant response to the Iranian regime's blatant disregard for human lives and international norms. The international community must condemn such actions and hold those responsible for this crime against humanity accountable.
