Channel News Asia reported in its English-language publication today, Tuesday, that more than 860 homes and 14 hospitals or clinics have been damaged across the country due to the strong typhoon, which was accompanied by winds of 195 kilometers per hour, and the hurricane forced thousands of people to leave. their homes and take refuge in monasteries, schools, and strong buildings to take refuge in.
The Myanmar Meteorological Department said that Cyclone Mocha made landfall in Rakhine state near the city of Sittwe yesterday afternoon (Sunday) and was accompanied by winds of up to 209 kilometers (130 miles) per hour. It is immediately clear the extent of the damage caused by the hurricane, but the accompanying strong winds collapsed cell phone towers and cut off communications.
Local media in Rakhine state reported that streets were flooded and people were trapped inside their homes in low-lying areas.

Mitra added that the damage and losses caused by the cyclone are expected to be extensive, emphasizing the readiness to respond and the need for unhindered access to all affected communities.
It is noteworthy that more than four thousand people out of Sittwe's 300,000 population have been evacuated to other cities since last Friday.
