A lawyer was kidnapped and left injured after being severely beaten.
A lawyer named Mohammed Yaba Sofi was attacked in Erbil on Saturday morning after being severely beaten, cut his hair and left.
The lawyer was taken to the Western Erbil Emergency Hospital for treatment and is currently under medical care.
"The attack on my brother was due to a case of a couple. The woman's family made my brother their agent. The other party, the man's family, did not agree with the law and kidnapped my brother.
"The only reason for attacking my brother is that he defended the law. My brother has a master's degree in law and is a consultant lawyer," he said.
"At first his brother's health was very unstable because they broke his mouth and nose. They were going to kill him but later they decided not to kill him. They cut his hair and recorded a video," he said.
"Now the Bar Association and the Erbil security forces are on the line on this issue, because the case is legal and not personal, we have no personal problems with anyone," he said.
