A couple pays $4,000 for a cup of coffee
A couple from the Oklahoma region, in the United States, were surprised to pay more than $ 4,000 for two cups of coffee, and according to the “Daily Mail” website, the man mistakenly provided $ 4,000 in tip for two cups of coffee, as he and his wife are now struggling to get their money back.
A photo of the receipt showed that the coffee bill was supposed to cost approximately $11.83, but they had mistakenly paid $4,444.44 in visa.
Jesse O'Dell says that he and his wife Didi quickly contacted the company after they realized the error and were told that a system error caused the incident.
Company officials said they would send checks to cover costs, yet the couple say they spent a day calling customer service "30 to 40 times" to get a refund.
The man says they were forced to cancel a vacation while waiting to get their money back and to report the situation to the Tulsa Police Department.
The couple did not realize the large amount paid until days later when the wife tried to complete a purchase, and noticed that her credit card was rejected. Immediately, Didi and Jesse began communicating with the company.
Jesse said they called the local store and the area manager and made sure it was a mistake, and that they would issue the checks immediately, but the first round of checks bounced.
"We called their consumer service helpline probably 30-40 times that day," Jesse added. "They assured us they would send new checks."
