Mullah Mohammad Babajani, a well-known figure in East Kurdistan and Kermanshah region, passed away this morning due to a stroke in a hospital in Tehran, Iran
Mamoste's concern for the displaced people of East Kurdistan dates back to 1982 when thousands of displaced families from the devastating war between Iran and Iraq were transferred to the Altash camp in Ramadi, Iraq, without any basic assistance.
At that time, he fearlessly went to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and the voice of the oppressed and the lack of necessities of life of the destitute people conveyed to the presidential palace of the Iraqi Republic and the responsible government agencies. Until his return to East Kurdistan in 1996, he was a well-known social and religious figure in the camp.
From the time of his return to the east of the country until his last farewell, he was constantly visited and respected by Kurdish elders and personalities in his village of Banisakani Salasi Babajani.
