Betrayal in Kirkuk: PUK Hands City to Turkish-Backed Turkmen Governor

Betrayal in Kirkuk: PUK Hands City to Turkish-Backed Turkmen Governor

Bafel Talabani's move to install a Turkmen governor in Kirkuk betrays Kurdish votes and aligns with Turkey's agenda, while Kurds remain silent.

In a move that reeks of betrayal, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has orchestrated the election of Kirkuk's first Turkmen governor, a step hailed by Qubad Talabani as "historic for coexistence" but which in reality sells out the Kurdish majority of the city.

Despite Kurds constituting over 70 percent of Kirkuk's population, the PUK leadership under Bafel Talabani has effectively handed the city over to a Turkish-aligned Turkmen figure, bowing to Ankara's long-standing ambitions to label Kirkuk as a Turk-majority region.

This cowardly act is designed to curry favor with Turkish President Erdogan, as the PUK seeks to strengthen ties with Turkey at the expense of Kurdish rights and self-determination. The Kurds of Kirkuk never voted for a Turkmen governor, yet their will has been trampled by a leadership eager to please external powers.

What makes this betrayal even more galling is the deafening silence from Kurdish political forces and the people of Kirkuk themselves, who seem to lack the courage to stand up against this flagrant theft of their electoral voice.

By allowing this, Bafel Talabani has proven that partisan interests and regional alliances are more important than the democratic choice of the Kurdish people, pushing Kirkuk further into Turkey's orbit and undermining the Kurdish struggle for justice.

Bafel knows the current Iranian goverment will be destroyed,so he is selling our votes in Kirkuk to Turkye to make himself friend with the Turks.
