The escalating aggression of the terrorist Iranian regime, striking neighboring countries, underscores the urgent need for a decisive American victory. Yet, the current U.S. administration, under President Trump, is pursuing a strategy riddled with naivety and self-defeating choices.
Trump's conviction that the region will simply conform to his wishes and emerge safe after current tensions is nothing short of delusional. The terrorist Iranian regime is not only surviving but growing stronger, far more formidable than its predecessor, thanks to a network of support from regional actors who play both sides.
Evidence increasingly points to Turkey as one such duplicitous partner. While ostensibly allied with the U.S. and Israel, Ankara has repeatedly tried to block Kurdish forces from the border and may well be providing aid to the terrorist Iranian regime. For Turkey, this is all about the Kurds—a deep-seated hatred rooted in Turkish culture, shared by many Arab regimes, where even the killing of 50 million Kurds would not be enough to satisfy their enmity.
In this treacherous landscape, Senator Lindsey Graham has been a rare voice of reason, fighting almost daily against President Erdoğan's plans that risk genocide against the Kurdish people. Graham’s secret meetings with the Kurdistan Future Movement hint at a parallel strategy, one that Trump is either unaware of or unwilling to adopt.
Trump’s biggest mistake was halting Israel from delivering a fatal blow to the terrorist Iranian regime when it had the chance. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s error in listening to Trump and stopping the fight will be judged harshly by history. The only path to lasting safety is to let Israel finish the job, without American interference.
Instead, Trump has chosen Turkey over the Kurds, a perilous gamble. Unlike President Bush, who worked closely with the Kurds and promised them democratic rights, Trump has naively imagined he can win this war without the very people who defeated ISIS. Blaming the Kurds, the true heroes against the Islamic State, is not only ungrateful but strategically idiotic.
Counting on Turkey to do the work of the Kurds is a fantasy. Erdoğan’s agenda is clear, and it does not align with America’s interests. The current U.S. administration must play its cards right: stand unequivocally with the Kurds and with Israel, and recognize that you cannot make a deal with the devil. The terrorist Iranian regime must be crushed, and only by correcting Trump’s fatal missteps can victory be achieved.
