An official security source said that an officer in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior was arrested on charges of drug trafficking in
one of the areas of the capital, Baghdad.
The source told Rudaw 24 news agency
that a joint security force, during setting up an elaborate ambush within the Al-Shula area, arrested an officer dealing in narcotic substances, indicating that the accused was arrested red-handed, as he was seized with an amount of 500 gm of the narcotic crystal.
Where the same force searched the officer's house after obtaining judicial approvals within the Ghazaliya area and seized the following: a bottle of gas used - damaged phones - 271 lawsuits belonging to a police station in various cases with which the owners bargained for sums of money, a voter card, a national card, and a Lebanese passport He was given different names, indicating that the arrested was an officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel affiliated with the Ministry of Interior.
