In recent days, numerous cities inside and outside Kurdistan have witnessed large-scale and unprecedented gatherings and demonstrations, with thousands of people taking to the streets in support of Kurdistan—particularly Rojava Kurdistan—and to condemn armed attacks, assassinations, and the occupation of parts of Kurdish territory.
Participants in the demonstrations described the actions of armed forces affiliated with Ahmad al-Shar’, which protesters say are carried out with the support of the Turkish government and within the framework of international power balances, as a serious threat to the security and stability of Kurdistan and the wider region. They emphasized that what is unfolding today is not merely a limited or temporary confrontation, but part of a broader trajectory driven by expansionist objectives, rooted in interventionist policies and efforts to extend influence over Kurdistan and parts of neighboring countries.
Protesters also characterized these developments as a continuation and reproduction of armed networks and structures that had previously operated under extremist groups in the region, warning that the presence of such forces could further exacerbate insecurity and long-term instability.
During the demonstrations, the policies of the Turkish government toward Kurdistan were strongly criticized, and the role of certain regional actors in complicating the security situation was called into question. Demonstrators also called for greater transparency from the international community and European governments, including Sweden, regarding the ongoing developments.
Through chants and slogans, protesters condemned military and political interventions and demanded an immediate halt to the attacks, the protection of civilians, and accountability for those responsible for acts of violence. They urged international organizations and human rights institutions to adopt an active and responsible stance to prevent further escalation of the crisis.
Organizers of the demonstrations announced that these popular protests will continue in a sustained and organized manner and will persist until the attacks cease and the security and rights of the people of Kurdistan are fully guaranteed.
