The letter of 130 members of the US Congress to the European Union, put the IRGC in the list of terrorist groups
In a letter written by 130 members of the US Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties to Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy official, the signatories requested the European Union to include the Revolutionary Guards in the list of terrorist groups. which shows that in the last five years, Iran has organized at least 33 conspiracies to kidnap and assassinate citizens in Europe or to spy on them. "For decades, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has freely and openly carried out plots to target citizens of countries across the European Union." The United States introduced the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization on April 15, 2019, and recently the European Parliament voted for a proposal that asks the European Union to add the IRGC and its affiliates to the EU's terrorist list. The signatories of the letter expressed their hope that the necessary attention will be given to this very important issue in the upcoming meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the Union, because for years the IRGC has been accused of human rights violations and numerous terrorist acts, such as the brutal suppression of Iranian protesters following the assassination of Mahsa Amini.
