And the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said - in a statement reported by the Iraqi (Al-Sumaria News) channel, today, Friday, that "Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, and his accompanying delegation met, in Washington, Deputy Secretary of the US Treasury, Wali Adimo, and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Elizabeth, and senior ministry officials concerned with Iraq and the Middle East, where issues of common interest and bilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
The Iraqi delegation indicated - according to the statement - the government's priority in promoting investment and trade and diversifying energy sources, as well as facing current challenges at the monetary and banking levels. What these measures reflect in reforming the banking system by combating corruption and money laundering, and the importance of continuing technical meetings between specialists in this aspect.
