The European Union has imposed new sanctions on Iran.
The European Union is preparing a new package of sanctions against Iran against the countrys treatment of protesters, a US magazine says, the package includes sanctions against 40 Iranian individuals and institutions.
The European Union has decided to impose new sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran in a package of reactions to the crackdown on protesters by Iranian forces, the US magazine Politico reported.
The magazine claimed to have received a draft of the 27-page package, which includes about 40 people and institutions.
According to the package, 17 people will face sanctions, including some commanders in various regions of Iran, a parliamentarian and a senior official of the countrys radio and television agency.
The list also includes the names of some current and former Revolutionary Guards officials who played a key role in the crackdown on protesters.
Another name on the list is Iranian Sports and Youth Minister Hamid Sajadi, who has forced Iranian athletes not to speak out against the regimes repression in international arena.
