The White House: We are concerned about what is happening in Israel after the dismissal of the Minister of Defense

The White House expressed its deep concern about the unstable situation in Israel, after the dismissal of the Minister of Defense, according to Sky News, and the White House confirmed that the situation now will affect the security of Israel and the readiness of its army.

In turn, a spokeswoman for the US National Security Council said that they are very concerned about what is happening and its implications for the readiness of the Israeli army.

Thousands of Israeli demonstrators took to the streets of "Tel Aviv" and "occupied Jerusalem" to protest the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dismiss Defense Minister Yoav Gallant from office, after siding with the opposition.

And the office of the Israeli Prime Minister had announced, earlier tonight, the dismissal of Defense Minister Galant, who belongs to Netanyahu's party (Likud). Galant had announced last night his bias with the opposition and called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to postpone introducing "judicial amendments" legislation to the Knesset, until the Knesset returns from recess next May.
The demonstrators re-closed the main "Ayalon" highway in "Tel Aviv". Other demonstrators closed the "Hamid" junction on the main "1" road near occupied Jerusalem.

A large number of Israelis demonstrated outside the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem.

A wide segment of Israeli society believes that the reforms, which Netanyahu insists on passing in the Knesset in the second and third readings this week, will destroy the independence of the judiciary, and will harm the rights of minorities as well as other rights not stipulated in the basic laws, such as freedom of expression, and that they are just a way to get Netanyahu out. From his ongoing corruption trial, which the Israeli prime minister denies.

Supporters of Netanyahu's reforms say there is an urgent need to balance powers, and say the Supreme Court is interfering too much with legislative power.

Earlier this month, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he was against judicial reforms in their current form, warning that they "undermine the democratic foundations" of Israel. Herzog presented a proposal to reach a compromise on the crisis of judicial reform, while warning that his country was "on the brink of civil war."

It is noteworthy that the position of the presidency in Israel is primarily ceremonial, but Herzog is trying to bring the parties to the crisis to the negotiating table, but the Netanyahu government, the problem with the extreme right, rejected Herzog's proposal for a settlement.
