Duma: The agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran is consistent with the Russian security concept
The head of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma (lower house), Leonid Slutsky, confirmed that the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran in Beijing fits with the Russian concept of collective security in the Gulf region.
Leonid Slutsky said - in a statement to (Russia Today) news channel - "This agreement is strategic and pivotal and will have results of great importance, and it is impossible to underestimate its value," pointing to "the steps that are being taken towards normalizing relations in one of the most important regions of the world, and the results that It was reached; it is fully consistent with our concept of security in the Gulf region."
He pointed out that the Gulf region, for Russia; It has been of strategic importance for decades, "and we must launch economic projects of great importance in order to support and strengthen the historic agreement signed in Beijing to serve peace, stability and development in the region."
