The US President appoints "Lyle Brainard" as head of his economic advisors
US President Joe Biden appointed Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Lyle Brainard, to head the team of economic advisors to the White House
The White House said in a statement that the 61-year-old Brainard, who has been Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve since May 2022, will replace Brian Dees, whose resignation was expected with the start of the second half of the presidential term.
The White House statement quoted Biden as saying, "Lyle is one of the nation's leading macroeconomists, with extraordinary national and international economic experience."
According to Al-Ain news website, he added, "She is a trusted figure in our economic institutions and is aware of how the economy affects people."
In its statement, the White House said that Biden also intends to appoint Jared Bernstein, who is currently serving as an economic advisor to the president, as director of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), another White House advisory body.
Bernstein will succeed Cecilia Ross, the current director of the council.
