The UN Womens Committee decided to expel Iran from the committee.
The UN Womens Committee voted on Wednesday night to expel Irans representative from the UN Womens Committee, in the presence of representatives from 45 countries.
Of the 45 votes cast, 29 countries voted in favor of expelling Iran from the UN Womens Commission, eight voted against and 16 abstained.
Meanwhile, representatives of Syria, Russia, Venezuela and Belarus spoke out against the resolution and expressed their support for the rest of the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the decision to expel Iran was approved in accordance with UN law.
Zina Amini, 22, was arrested on September 13 for not wearing a headscarf, and her body was handed over to her family three days later. The killing of Zina Amini by the Iranian police sparked widespread domestic and international reactions, and demonstrations and protests continued in most Iranian cities and towns.
