British Police: A mobile phone is reported stolen in London every six minutes
Official British police figures revealed that a mobile phone is stolen in London every six minutes, according to the British newspaper, the Evening Standard.
And 90,864 phones — the equivalent of 250 phones per day — were stolen across the capital last year, according to statistics provided by the police.
Police revealed that the Westminster area is a hotspot for mobile phone theft in London, with 25,899 mobile phones stolen there in 2022, nearly 30% of the total mobile phone theft across the capital.
Camden came in second place, with 7,900 phones stolen, followed by Southark and Hackney.. Bexley saw the least number of thefts, with 432 mobile phones.
The figures also revealed that only around 2% of mobile phones stolen in London last year were subsequently recovered.
