In a resolution, representatives of the European Parliament emphasized the need to sanction all people involved in human rights violations in Iran and to include the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the list of terrorist groups of the European Union.
This resolution, which is not binding, was approved on Thursday, 29th of January and one day after the European Parliament voted with an overwhelming majority of votes to amend a plan in which the European Union and its member states were asked to include the name of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the List terrorist organizations.
According to this resolution, the Islamic Republics "obvious disregard" for the "human dignity and democratic ideals of its citizens, as well as its support for Russia" requires the European Union to further "adjust" its relations with Iran.
The representatives of the European Parliament asked the European Union to expand its list of sanctions to include all individuals and institutions responsible for human rights violations and their family members, including Ali Khamenei, Ebrahim Raisi, Mohammad Jaafar Montazeri, the Attorney General of Iran and all foundations related to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. become Islamic Revolutionary Guards
